Well, you do know that some people will not buy a game which they are not sure of yeah? that is why people will want to test play it first and try out how it feels like to play with others.
Disabling LAN function will keep customers with poor internet connection (there is tons of them) which will indirectly lower the amount of people playing Starcraft 2 which also equals to less popularity. Besides, if you want people to support the game, disabling LAN function is really encouraging me to get a pirated copy as there is PRACTICALLY NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PIRATED AND ORIGINAL COPY!!! (for those with poor internet connections like me :( ) as people will be only playing the campaign and skirmish

Blizzard,
I could pine on and on about all the reasons why you should include LAN. Even now that the game has been released, you could add this functionality via a patch. But here is the most important reason... There are 7 people in my home who have been loyal customers of yours for years. We WILL NOT purchase the game from you without this functionality. Period, end of discussion. I don't care if you give me all three races for $60 dollars total, if it doesn't have LAN, then I DON'T WANT IT. There are plenty of other games out there to choose from, we don't need you, you need us. InsaneAI

I was traveling to Gamestop to buy 6 copies of Starcraft. My kids mentioned that it wouldn't have LAN support. We turned around and I verified their info. I am now heading home and will not buy the product. The arrogance of these companies makes me sick!!!!!!!!!

We're not a minority.
Screw Blizzard, I see another troika or EA in the making. Douches. I can even deal with the activation, although I guarantee this is just to force people to end up re-purchasing the game several times. We all know the copy protection is only going to keep the legal flavor of the game from working. Screw Blizzard. I stop buying games from EA for this reason. Now, I wont be getting any more blizzard either. Supreme Commander 2 is out also, seems really nice too. BTW, the whole killing 320,000 bnet account doesn't smell in the slightest like an attempt to force people to buy another copy or upgrade to this garbage. Not at all. Couldn't be. I haven't played on bnet very much in past years because of the punks and hackers, I only play at home with my wife, and the occasional bnet game. I do understand the need to be strict. The timing and volume, however are too suspect. You people suck. You have seen the last of my money. PS Lets all start an open sores alternative to SC2. We can add lan and everything.

Blizzard are being a bunch of retards for not including the LAN functions as that is where alot of people end up playing RTS type games the most as us here in South Africa don't have such high speed internet access as our fastest ADLS line is only sitting at 4MBs which is nothing. So we would rather play games like this at a LAN. And also there isn't really a way to stop piracy as someone out there will eventually crack the game no matter how hard the game developers try to make things harder for those who hack a game .So if Blizzard wants me to consider selling this product also at my computer shop they better reconsider adding the LAN option otherwise l will refuse to sell a game not worthy to be sold even though lm a Star Craft fan myself

If we lose the LAN connection it ain't no fun playing anymore.. If you can't play with friends then it's crap boring.
That's everything that is fun by playing a game. Playing with people you know!

Blizzard was cool until this lame lame lame lame decision. I will not buy the game if there is no lan, and I will encourage others not to buy the game(which won't be hard because we can't play together anyways unless we have a super fast computer with a super fast internet which is super expensive and ridiculous)BLIZZARD YOU BETTER RETHINK YOUR DECISION OR YOU HAVE LOST A FAN/BUYER OF YOUR PRODUCTS FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been preventing my children from accessing blizzard.net and I always play StarCraft with my kids. This is to protect my children from exposing themselves to predators. We were excited for Starcraft 2 for long time until today. Lack of LAN support really do DISAPPOINT my children and I will not allow them to buy StarCraft simply because it forces us to use Blizzard.net to connect us together. I have ZERO tolerance policy about allowing my children to expose themselves on the INTERNET.

I own pretty much every Blizzard game with the exception of MMORPG titles, however I have lost faith in Blizzard Entertainment. They obviously are a shop which doesn't listen to their developers. Any coder knows that defeating DRM is trivial.
Read the following: "we felt that moving away from LAN play and directing players to our upgraded Battle.net service was the best option to ensure a quality multiplayer experience with StarCraft II and safeguard against piracy." So, they are trying to reduce piracy. This game will be cracked. So, the only people you are really screwing over is your paying customers. The pirates will still get the game for free. Bioware realized this long ago. Blizzard wake up, or you will loose your devoted fan base. Then you save your game from all the pirates you want, but you can't get back a pissed off fan. Like me. Even if you do release LAN play, I'm gone. Fuck off.
