This is a great example of a company going big enough, and great enough, to not care. They have been a great company in the past, but im sorry to say, it has just become a horrible company. I have been playing blizzard games since Diablo 1 and Starcraft. I played a bit of Warcraft 2, and still to this day play warcraft 3 TFT regularly.
I host large LAN parties. We rent out the gym in our local church, which does not have an internet connection. Im talking 50 - 100 people LAN competitions. I have promoted thier games for a very long time, but sadly, will no longer be doing that. For the hundreds of customers i have brought to your door with your great products, you have officially lost 1 of your customers respect. You have gone from being a great, customer driven company, to a big bad wolf, that is feeding greed, rather than customer satisfaction.
That being said, you have left me with a bad taste in my mouth, from World of Warcraft heading the directions that it does, and working with your customer support many of times. You use to sell a much enjoyed product, for the customers, and with the customers in mind. I think its absolutely pathetic that you show these kinds of obvious greed, to deal with something that will lose maybe 3-4% of your overall revenue(Which is probably what you are going to lose from the people who hate this idea). To come off and say its because of your new battle.net system tracking stats, thats moronic. Many games out there has been able to create local user profiles, tracking LAN wins and losses and additional information. All you would need to do, is have a lan profile, and an internet profile. To say its to track stats, is just plain stupid.
Anyways, long story short, i will no longer promote any of your products at my LAN parties. There are many great products out there, that we can play, and your obviously showing us, that its the right choice to go with someone elses product.
